A reminder: On Monday and Wednesday the NJHS sells milk and cookies to raise money for Middle School novels. We are hoping for good support on this and, of course, hoping everybody enjoys the morning break snack. The cost is $1.00.

Grade 7 World History: Chapter 6 "Ancient Rome"
Section 3 "The Achievements of the Romans" poster due Wednesday, January 11. Test on Chapter 6 will be Jan. 18. Reading and projects on "Calliope" magazines for Ancient Rome will begin this week - due next week.

Grade 7 Literature: "The Night the Bed Fell"  See Handout on assignment due Friday with ST.

Grade 8 Literature: Literary Essay for "An Episode of War" by Stephen Crane due Monday, Jan. 23.

Grade 8 American History is moving along quickly.  There is, on average, a section assigned each day, with a quiz following our discussion/activity. Eighth graders know the importance of keeping up in this class! Test Ch. 11 Jan 18.

Grade 6 Geography: We are studying the history of Europe and Russia in Chapter 15. For each section: Key Terms, WS, Timeline and discussion followed by a section quiz. Quiz Section 1 Thursday, Jan. 19.

Grade 6 Literature: 6th Grade is reading the novel "War Horse." See handout. Every night they are to write a summary of what was read that day, do questions, and vocabulary. Work collected daily for a weekly grade.

We begin each literature class with 10 minutes of silent reading every day. However, students must also read at home to fulfill their reading requirements.  This year we visit the library once a week (Wednesday) so students can take AR tests on their outside reading. Grade 6 is also doing Book It where they can earn free individual pizzas from Pizza Hut. Of course the best reason for reading novels is that good books are a lot of fun to read!
