     FIFTH GRADE

    * SOCIAL STUDIES-
    We are starting to discuss foreign countries trying to control the Americas and form their colonies.  

     
    STANDING HOMEWORK ALWAYS IS TO RE-READ YOUR NOTES AND AMAZE YOUR PARENTS WITH DISCUSSION OF CLASS AT THE DINNER TABLE!!. 

    Monday- New France- review bullet notes
    Thursday-  English in America- review bullet notes
    Friday-  Jamestown and Plymouth colonies- review bullet notes
    * check planner for specific questions due for HW
    * Tentative date for test- Jan. 20 



    *MATH-   
    Sadly, we have had to cover things taught last year. Have your child review their notebook from 4th grade a little bit each night. This will help with comprehension (they were all told to keep their notebook)

    Monday- Adding 3 fractions- wkbk p. 52
    Tuesday- Adding mixed numbers and renaming mixed sums- wkbk pgs. 53 & 54
    Wednesday- Subtracting fractions (like/unlike denominators) and subtracting mixed numbers- wkbk pgs. 55 & 57


    *RELIGION- 
    We are discussing Confirmation and Eucharist as the final Sacraments of Chrisitan Initiation

    Tuesday- p. 100-101
    Thursday- p. 102-103
    Friday- Music class

    FOURTH GRADE

    *SOCIAL STUDIES

    *STANDING HOMEWORK ALWAYS IS TO RE-READ YOUR NOTES ON A NIGHTLY BASIS and to AMAZE YOUR PARENTS WITH DINNER TABLE CONVERSATION ABOUT WHAT YOU LEARNED!*

    Monday- Intro. to Times of Change- pgs. 135-155;  Re-read notes from LSN 1 AND do the subsection review questions, the focus skill question AND #6
    Tuesday- Florida under British Rule- LSN 2- re-read notes and do the subsection questions AND #5
    Wednesday- LSN3- re-read notes and do the subsection questions AND the focus skill question



    * MATH- 

    Some are STILL struggling with their times tables!  PLEASE have your child drill every night/day!!  Fourth grade is ALL ABOUT multiplication, division, and fractions- they will seriously struggle if they do not take this seriously. 

       **Homework will be assigned according to how/what we cover in class. PLEASE CHECK THE PLANNER NIGHTLY to see what was assigned!!

    Wednesday- Review zeros in the quotient and division of $
    Thursday- Order of Operations and Finding the mean- wkbk pgs. 67 & 68
    Friday- Interpreting the Remainder- wkbk p. 69

    ** tentative test date for the above is on Thursday, Jan. 12!!!!!!

    4th grade will be responsible for the Grandparent's Mass in February. Please invite your family to attend our Mass at the school at 0830, Feb. 3.
