                                              Hello Parents,

As the summer vacation begins, here are some activities you can do with your little ones.

Remember, children learn through play. Making the activities fun will encourage them to participate.

Letter Recognition: As you go through your daily routine, point out various written words. Say what it is and say the letter it begins with, then say the sound of the letter.

Encourage your child to identify the letter.

Reading: Read daily. Choose stories that are not too long. Read the title of the book and explain what the the illustrator and the author do. Have them predict what the story will be about by looking at the picture on the cover.

As you read, ask open ended questions about what's happening in the story. Talk about emotions of the characters and why they might be feeling that particular way.

After the story is read, by your prompting, encourage your child to retell the story.

Math Activities: Assist your child to recognize numbers 1-10, shapes and colors.

You can use the shapes and colors to practice simple patterns.

eg: Red, blue, red, blue..what comes next.

Circle, heart, circle heart...what comes next.

Practice Fine Motor Skills: Encourage your child to cut paper.

Explain that we always sit when we are using scissors.

Draw lines on paper with a marker and have him/her cut on the line.

Allow/encourage your child to color on paper.

Use your daily routine to incorporate some of these activites. Have fun!

Have a safe and enjoyable summer!

    See you in August.

    God Bless

    Miss Carol
